Religion name / Caste name will not be a part of our drafts Complying SC order

General Practice

Our drafts won’t include religion/caste names

Here’s why

Usually an Affidavit sworn before any court of law within the limits of India had a practice of mentioning the deponent’s religion as the part of their sworn statement. This being the usual practice, the hon’ble Supreme Court passed a verdict dated 10.01.2024, which made it clear that caste or religion of parties shall not be mentioned in the memo of parties of a petition/proceeding filed before courts subordinate to Supreme Court of India. Further, the Supreme Court through its circular dated 07.02.2024 vide F.No. 3/Judl./2024 mandated that pleading filed before Supreme Court should not mention the religion details or caste details.

General practice

To mention the deponent’s religion as a part of sworn statement in the affidavit.
